Mensuration known as periods, monthly cycle. Mensuration cycle begins when women gets her periods. The mensuration blood which leaves her body are products shed from uterus (the uterine lying called endometrium) .The first period usually begins 12 to 15 years of age (menarche). However, it may start as young as 8 years of age, which is considered absolutely normal and continue menstruating till age 51 (menopause) .
The mensuration flow in young girls occur between 21 to 45 days, whereas in adults 21 to 31 days (on average 28 days) and bleeding lasts around 2 to 7 days.
Up-to 80% women report having some symptoms prior to mensuration. Common signs and symptoms include acne, tender breasts, bloating, feeling tired, irritability and mood changes. These may interfere with normal life, qualify to be called premenstrual syndrome in 20 to 30 % in women. In 3 to 8 %, symptoms are severe.
Irregular periods- considered irregular if they occur before 21 days or lasts long, above 8 days. Missed, late or early periods are also sign of irregular periods. In our society this is one of the least discussed topic, which is most frequently fabricated and leads to other problems.
